Insect mechanoreception: What a long, strange TRP it's been

Insect bristles are model mechanasensory organs. An ion channel of the TRP superfamily has recently been identified which is required for production o f mechanoreceptor currents by insect bristles, and seems likely to represen t a new kind of mechanically gated channel.
