Abstract
The 'bell-shaped' curve relating cytosolic Ca2+ concentration to IP3 recept or activation is considered important in the generation of the complex Ca2 signals seen inside many cells. But recent findings suggest this bimodal r elationship is not always evident and may not apply to some IP3 receptor is oforms.
