Abstract
Recent evidence suggests that some of the syntaxin isoforms may physically interact with and regulate the transport activity of a defined set of membr ane transport proteins. This review examines recent studies of the cystic f ibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator and the epithelial sodium chann el which define distinct roles of syntaxin 1A and syntaxin 3 in the regulat ion of surface expression as well as intrinsic properties of these epitheli al ion transporters.
