Abstract
This article provides an overview of the aging of our population and its im plications for women and the nursing profession in general. A brief history of women's role in the legislative and policy arena is provided along with a brief synopsis of legislative initiatives introduced in the 105th and 10 6th Congress and suggestions for nursing intervention.
