I. Wolman et al., Transvaginal sonohysterography for the evaluation and treatment of retained products of conception, GYNECOL OBS, 50(2), 2000, pp. 73-76
Diagnosing retained products of conception in a woman presenting with postp
artum or postabortion bleeding presents a clinical challenge, Although ultr
asonographic examination may be potentially useful in detecting retained pr
oducts of conception, its accuracy has not yet been established. Saline inf
usion sonohysterography is a simple ultrasonographic technique for enhanced
transvaginal sonographic imaging of the endometrial cavity by the instilla
tion of saline into the uterine cavity during ultrasonographic evaluation,
This technique enhanced our ability to diagnose retained products of concep
tion, and we describe our experience in evacuating them under sonographic g
uidance while performing saline infusion sonohysterography. Copyright (C) 2
