Abstract
A new compound, ydro-3,5,7-trihydroxy-9-methyl-1(2H)-anthracenone, des ignated as aloe barbendol has been isolated from the roots of Aloe bar badensis, while three known constituents, aloe emodin, aloe chrysone a nd barbaloin A have been obtained from the sap of the leaves.
