This review of foreign publications over the last 10-15 years is devoted to
a comparison of color representations in colorimetrically constructed colo
r systems and atlases and in the human color-vision system. It shows that t
here are critical problems associated with identifying color in objective r
epresentations (colorimetry, modelled color systems) and subjective represe
