This paper analyzes accidental injuries of the eyes by laser radiation with
a wavelength of 0.69 and 1.06 mu m. The results of reconstructions of the
situations and clinical observations are used to determine how serious inju
ries to the fundus of the eye and disturbances of the visual functions corr
espond to the energy parameters of the laser radiation involved. The data c
an be used in clinical ophthalmology, as well as when carrying out studies
on health standards for laser radiation. (C) 2000 The Optical Society of Am
