Abstract
The isolation as well as spectroscopic and structural characterization of [ (kappa(2)-'Bu2PCPH2P'Bu-2)ClRu-CH-CH=C(CH3)(2)-(CH3CN)](+) ([5(+)]), a solv ent-coordinated monomeric ruthenium(II)carbene cation with a rigid cis-ster eochemistry of two phosphines, are reported. Its relevance for the mechanis m of olefin metathesis catalyzed by such complexes is discussed and distinc t differences compared to complexes with the usual trans-phosphine stereoch emistry are noted.
