Gz. Li et al., Studies on morphology of single crystals of ladder-like polyphenylsilsesquioxane (PPSQ) by polarized optical microscopy, MACRO CH P, 201(12), 2000, pp. 1283-1285
This paper reports the first observation on morphology of single crystals o
f ladder-like polyphenylsilsesquioxane (PPSQ) by polarized optical microsco
py. These crystals prepared from benzene solution are cubic or pyramidal, w
hose bases are parallelograms with acute angles of 70 degrees and 60 degree
s, while those pyramidal shaped crystals formed from toluene solution have
also parallelogram-like basal planes with small acute angles of 39 degrees
and 26 degrees. Most pyramidal crystals exhibit fringes, sectors, stripes o
r colorful stripes.
