Abstract
Aryl(hydroxymethyl)ethynes and aryl(methoxymethyl)ethynes were reacted with mercuric acetate in acetic acid. The mercurated addition compounds were is olated and identified, The regiochemistry and the reactivity were determine d and compared with those of other families of alkynes.
