Abstract
The robustness of straight and curved tetrahedral elements with higher orde r basis functions is rested against mesh quality with respect to some test cases. Results show not only an overall and expected better performance of higher order basis functions, but also art increased robustness to element distortion. (C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
