Abstract
The operation of artificial impedance surfaces as screens between mobile ph one antennas and the head is considered. It is established that structures with moderate values of the surface impedance provide a possibility to use screens of reasonably small sizes, with a tradeoff of a certain reduction i n the antenna gain.
