Abstract
The massless spin-1 free-field equation, that is well known to be equivalen t to the source free Maxwell equations, is formulated in the Schwarzschild space-time by means of the spinorial formalism of Newman and Penrose. The s olution is obtained Ly applying a separation method very similar to the one previously used for the! Robertson-Walker space-time. The separated time a nd angular equations come out to have known solutions. while the separated radial equations result in a form whose solutions are not catalogued. The s olutions are studied near the singularities and solved in the static case. The electromagnetic tensor is identified in general and studied in limiting cases and special situations.
