Recent research on integrated econometric+input-output modeling for regiona
l economies is reviewed. The motivations for and the alternative methodolog
ical approaches to this type of analysis are examined. Particular attention
is given to the issues arising from multiregional linkages and spatial eff
ects in the implementation of these frameworks at the sub-national scale. T
he linkages between integrated modeling and spatial econometrics are outlin
ed. Directions for future research on integrated econometric and input-outp
ut modeling are identified. JEL classification: C51, C67, R15.
