Abstract
We report on the phenomenon of resonant activation in overdamped periodical ly driven systems with noise. The phenomenon manifests with a significant d ecrease of the mean decay time of the metastable state at certain frequency range. Analytic description is presented for the low and for the high freq uency limits. Significant suppression of noise has been observed in the cas e of a strong driving.
