Abstract
Correlation between the Debye temperature and the temperature dependence of elastic constants of a paramagnetic metal is analyzed on the basis of the Debye-Gruneisen concepts neglecting the temperature dependence of the Poiss on ratio sigma. The temperature dependence of the Debye temperature theta(T ) is shown to be predominantly determined by the temperature dependence of elastic constants. On the contrary, the theta(T) only weakly affects the te mperature dependence of elastic constants. This latter circumstance allowed us to formulate a self-consistent method for calculating the temperature d ependence of elastic constants. The parameters of this dependence were esti mated numerically on the example of the bulk modulus of elasticity of param agnetic lutetium.
