S. Takahashi et al., Ser162-dependent inactivation of overproduced sucrose-phosphate synthase protein of maize leaf in transgenic rice plants, PLANT CEL P, 41(8), 2000, pp. 977-981
To investigate the role of Ser162 in phosphorylation-dependent regulation o
f maize sucrose-phosphate synthase (SPS) activities in rice, transgenic ric
e plants expressing wild-type or mutagenized maize SPS were produced. Our r
esults indicate that Ser162 was responsible for overproduction-induced inac
tivation of SPS protein and for light/dark modulation of this protein in vi
vo.
