For 1,1-dimethyl-1-silacyclopent-3-ene and a linear polymer produced by the
metathesis ring-opening polymerization of this monomer, the temperature de
pendences of heat capacity were studied by adiabatic vacuum calorimetry in
the 5-340 K range. The physical transformations of the reagents were invest
igated, and the thermodynamic functions C(p)degrees(T), H degrees(T)- H deg
rees(0), SO(T), and GO(T) - H degrees(0) were calculated in the 0-340 K ran
ge. The thermodynamic characteristics of the metathesis ring-opening polyme
rization of 1,1-dimethyl-1-silacyclopent-3-ene carried out in bulk were est
imated for the same temperature range.
