Abstract
In the framework of a project which was completed in less than 6 months, VO EST-ALPINE Industrieanlagenbau GmbH (VAI) has upgraded the automation syste m of the slab easter at Dansteel (Denmark). Specific solutions have been de veloped for the control of secondary cooling and for process optimization. The modernization measures produced the slab quality improvements desired b y the customer : internal cracking and macrosegregation were substantially reduced.
