Specific features of introducing silver nitrate in porous glass and its sub
sequent reduction with hydrogen to the metal were studied. The density, ele
ctrical conductance, and optical electronic spectra of metallic intercalate
s were considered. The experimental data and estimates based on them made i
t possible to distinguish the stage of growth and accumulation of metal clu
sters. The silver content corresponding to the transition to a close-packed
surface monolayer was determined.
