Bismuth HTSCs Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox and Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox (hereafter, 2212 and 2223, r
espectively) were manufactured from precursors that were amorphous to X-ray
s (hereafter, amorphous precursors). The influence of a seed crystal (templ
ate) on the crystallization and formation rate of the final product is stud
ied. It is established that introducing seed crystals of the same compositi
on into the amorphous precursors of Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox and Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox enhanc
es phase formation only within the region of the thermodynamic stability of
the specified phases. It is also demonstrated that the strongest enhanceme
nt of crystallization from amorphous precursors is caused by the template t
hat is identical to the final crystalline product in chemical and phase com
position.
