Abstract
The interaction in the NaVO3-VOSO4-H2SO4-H2O system was studied by the meth od of isomolar series at 90 degrees C and pH 1 or 2. It was found that, dep ending on the NaVO3:VOSO4 ratio, the polyvanadates NaxH2-xV12O31-delta. nH( 2)O With x less than or equal to 2 and delta less than or equal to 1 and wi th x less than or equal to 1.2 and delta less than or equal to 0.55 are for med at pH 2 and 1, respectively. The addition of Cu, Zn, Al, Fe, and Ni sul fates (pH 2) results in the formation of the compounds NaxMyV12O31-delta. n H(2)O, where 1.1, 1.2, 0.7, 0.7, 1.2 less than or equal to x < 2 and 0 < y less than or equal to 0.6, 0.9, 0.8, 3.9, 1.1, respectively, and delta = 1. 00 +/- 0.05. The IR spectra, as well as the thermal and ion-selective prope rties of the mixed polyvanadates synthesized, were studied.
