The cis-diaminediacidoplatinum(II) complexes PtL2(SCN)(2) (L = NH3, en/2) r
eact with PtL1L2Cl2 (L-1, L-2 = NH3, en/2, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), dieth
yl sulfide) to produce cationic binuclear complexes in which the platinum a
toms are bridged by two thiocyanate ligands. Convenient methods of analysis
of binuclear complexes for SCN, Cl, and Pt were developed based on prelimi
nary destruction of the bridges by ethylenediamine and thiourea.
