Using X-ray diffraction and gravimetry techniques, it is found that two pre
viously described phases of the "NaTiO2F" compound actually comprise the mi
xtures of NaF with Na(2)Ti(6)O(1)3 and Na2Ti3O7, which are formed during hy
drolysis by water vapor. The degree of substitution is insignificant for th
ese titanates. Five oxyfluoride phases are found in the Na2TiO3-TiO2-NaF co
mposition region. Of these phases, there is a single equilibrium phase with
the empirical formula 12NaF . 35Na(2)O . 53TiO(2). A noticeable cation con
ductivity is found in this phase.
