Vv. Tatarchuk et al., Interaction of hydrochloric acid solution of palladium with trioctylamine and a fluorinated graphite intercalation compound with trioctylamine, RUSS J IN C, 45(4), 2000, pp. 656-661
Extraction of palladium by individual trioctylamine (TOA) and a fluorinated
graphite intercalation compound (FGIC) containing 50 wt % TOA is studied.
IR and Raman spectroscopy, spectrophotometry, X-ray powder diffraction, the
rmogravimetry, and chemical analysis were used to show that (TOAH)(2)[PdCl4
], [Pd(TOA)2Cl(2)], and (TOAH)(2)[Pd2Cl6] complexes result from a reaction
of hydrochloric solutions of palladium(II) with TOA in FGIC, as in extracti
on with free TOA. Effective constants of extraction of a mixture of mononuc
lear species are found to be log K* = 4.27 +/- 0.09 (TOA) and 4.16 +/- 0.08
(TOA-FGIC).
