Abstract
We construct two Banach algebras, one which contains analytic semigroups (a (z))Re z>0 such that parallel to a(1+iy)parallel to --> infinity arbitraril y slowly as /y/ --> infinity the other which contains ones such that parall el a(1+iy)parallel --> infinity arbitrarily fast.
