Abstract
A new HLA-DPA1 allele has been found in the African-American population. Th is newly discovered type is homologous with the DPA1*02011 allele, except i n codon 38 of the DPA1 sequence. The variant of DPA1 nas detected by sequen ce-specific oligonucleotide (SSO) typing, and specified by cloning and sequ encing methods. GenBank accession number is AF165160. The WHO Nomenclature Committee has officially assigned the name DPA1*02016.
