Abstract
In this paper detection of Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) optical signal s in white gaussian noise is performed. Because of the finite width of the laser beam spectrum, the carrier phase presents the laser phase n oise and has a gaussian probability density function. This case has no t been considered in the literature up to now. Here, the optimal recei ver has been designed and the probability of system error calculated f or these conditions.
