Abstract
The study presented in this paper shows that one can improve the aperture e fficiency and directivity of conical hems by inserting metallic devices, su ch as discs and conical or curved bodies. The inserted devices alter the ap erture fields, resulting in enhanced radiation characteristics. The effects of the size and position of the inserted metallic objects are pointed out. Results from simulations and experiments are presented in this paper.
