Objective: To propose a protocol for minimizing medical complications assoc
iated with the use of cryproterone, medroxyprogesterone, and depot leuproli
de to treat paraphilia.
Method: Review of the relevant literature.
Results: Certain patient populations should not be treated with these medic
ations, and medical complications associated with each can be detected earl
y and avoided
Conclusions: For each drug, a series of screening tests prior to use and sc
heduled testing during use can minimize potential medical complications.
