Sorting out the multiple roles of Fas ligand

Fas ligand can both be used by the immune system to initiate cell death, an d be used by non-lymphoid cells to evade death. Recent work has shown that Fas ligand is differentially sorted in different cell type!;. Here we prese nt the viewpoint that the differential sorting prays an important part in d etermining the role of Fas ligand in different cells.
