Thermal expansion and acoustic emission of BaTiO(3)crystals with electric c
onductivity values differing by several orders of magnitude have been studi
ed simultaneously. Both Curie temperature and temperature hysteresis of the
ferroelectric-paraelectric phase transition, as well as acoustic emission
activity decrease with conductivity. The absence of acoustic emission in hi
ghly conducting BaTiO3 crystals is likely to be caused by their monodomaini
sation.
