V. Sardana et Ss. Narwal, Effect of seed inoculation, nitrogen and phosphorus on the fodder and seedyields of Egyptian clover (Trifolium alexandrinum), I J AGRON, 44(3), 1999, pp. 639-646
Effect of seed inoculation and application of nitrogen and phosphorus on th
e fodder and seed yield of Egyptian clover (Trifolium alexandrinum L.) was
studied during rabi seasons of 1992-94. Seed inoculation significantly incr
eased the total green fodder yield, however, its effect on dry fodder, seed
and straw yields was not significant as compared to no inoculation. Nitrog
en application did not influence the green fodder and seed yields. Applicat
ion of 80 kg P2O5/ha significantly increased the fodder and seed yields ove
r control. Optimum dose of phosphorus for the maximum fodder and seed yield
s was worked out 86 kg P2O5/ha. Response to phosphorus increased when seeds
were inoculated with Rhizobium trifolii or crop fertilized with nitrogen.
