A combination of computer-aided design (CAD) software employing both a full
-wave analysis based on a method of moment solution and conventional empiri
cal analyses are used to accurately design finite-ground coplanar waveguide
(FGCPW) directional filters with 12- and 16-GHz resonant frequencies, The
filters employ novel passive 180 degrees phase reversal units and interdigi
tal capacitors, which aid to the device's miniaturization. It is demonstrat
ed that the CAD software provides an efficient design procedure that accura
tely predicts the performance of the physical circuit, This allows for fast
and economical prototyping for FGCPW circuit design. (C) 2000 John Wiley &
