Abstract
Initial results on the sea-floor controlled-source electromagnetic sounding of the oceanic crust simulated in an electrolytic tank are presented. The model represented a 3-D submarine graben embedded in a two-layer section (t he upper layer is composed of well-conducting porous pillow lavas, and the lower layer, of a high-resistivity dyke-gabbro complex). If an equatorial d ipole-dipole array coincides with the graben axis, the edges of the graben slightly affect the measured results, which may be due to the horizontal sk in-effect underlying the sea-floor controlled-source sounding.
