Rh. Harms et al., A comparison of performance and energy intake of commercial layers based on body weight or egg weight, J APPL POUL, 9(2), 2000, pp. 179-184
Laying hens were sorted into light, medium, and heavy groups at 25 wk based
on either body weight (BW) or egg weight (EW). They remained in these grou
ps for a 10-wk experimental period. There was no difference in egg producti
on among the three groups. Egg weights, feed consumption (FC), and energy i
ntake increased as the 25-wk BW or EW increased.
