During the last years Cimicifuga racemosa (L.) Nuttal (Ranunculaceae)
has become one of the most important plants in the therapy of gynecolo
gical diseases (1). Triterpene glucosides like 27-deoxyactein are char
acteristic for the rhizome (2-3). Specific flavonoids are the isoflavo
ne formononetine (2) and the falvone kaempferol (4). There is hardly a
ny information about these flavonoids in extracts and medicines made f
rom the rhizome. In this study the content of flavonoids, especially f
ormononetine and kaempferol, is investigated.
