F. Karaosmanoglu et al., METHANOL-UNLEADED GASOLINE BLENDS CONTAINING FUSEL OIL FRACTION AS SPARK-IGNITION ENGINE FUEL, Energy sources, 19(6), 1997, pp. 567-577
In the search for fuel alternatives for spark ignition engines, alcoho
l-gasoline blends draw considerable attention. For a successful applic
ation of gasoline-methanol mixtures as motor fuel, the realization of
a stable homogeneous liquid phase is one of the major problems. In thi
s work; phase separation problems of methanol-gasoline mixtures, which
were prepared by adding 25% methanol to unleaded gasoline, were solve
d by using a fusel oil fraction as the new blending agent. The stable
fuel alternatives thus prepared were then tested for fuel properties a
nd performance in the engine, and fuel alternatives for the spark igni
tion engines were proposed.
