Abstract
We have determined the electron temperature for the afterglow period o f a high-voltage pulsed discharge in caesium vapours from the continuu m radiative recombination spectrum. This spectroscopic method, success fully used for continuum current discharges, was adapted to our transi ent plasma conditions. Using a variable gate recording system, we dete rmined the electron temperature to be about 3430 +/- 30 K in the early afterglow.
