Abstract
The experiment was performed on 9 dogs of different breed, size and sex age d 6-12 years. The dogs were divided into 3 groups: I, II and III. Polopiryn a S (0,04/kg b.w./day) was administrated in the dogs from group 1. Dogs fro m group II were given Piroxicam (0.001/kg b.w./day), while Voltaren (0.0005 /kg b.w./day) was used in the case of group III. Ail the mentioned drugs we re administered orally once a day for 3 weeks. Initial fiberoscopy was perf ormed in all the dogs to evaluate the state of gastric mucosa at the beginn ing of the experiment. Gastroscopy was subsequently repeated three times wi thin a 3-week period. Biopsy specimens were taken from the cardiac and pylo ric portions of the ventricle during the endoscopy. It has been determined that acetylsalicylic acid (Polopiryna S), piroxicam (Piroxicam) and diclofe nac (Voltaren) have a destructive effect on gastric mucosa, Accordingly, ad ministration of the aforementioned drugs should not be prescribed for dogs. The strongest gastropathic influence was noted after Polopiryna S. The deg eneration of gastric mucosa progressed with the length of NSAID therapy.
