Abstract
A novel donor acceptor substituted sterically overcrowded alkene was synthe sized and characterized. Photoisomerization experiments it showed that this system could be converted with high efficiency towards a cis photostationa ry state and although the reverse isomerization towards the trans state was not as efficient this compound can function as a chiroptical molecular swi tch.
