As he was beginning to sort a batch of Ixodid ticks, collected with th
e flagging technique, the operator noticed that a female tick identifi
ed as Ixodes frontalis had fixed itself rapidly on the top of one of h
is finger. That species is usually considered as ''strict-specific to
birds''. The low frequency of such a fixing on human beings, as far as
we know, is of limited value from on epidemiological point of view.
