Abstract
The time step truncation error in direct simulation Monte Carlo calculation s is found to be O(Delta t(2)) for a variety of simple flows, both transien t and steady state. The measured errors in the transport coefficients (visc osity, thermal conductivity, and self-diffusion) are in good agreement with predictions from Green-Kubo analysis [N. Hadjiconstantinou, Phys. Fluids 1 2, 2634 (2000)]. (C) 2000 American Institute of Physics. [S1070-6631(00)001 10-0].
