The stabilization of polyisoprene rubber by a number of triazinone derivati
ves in the course of thermal oxidation has been studied. The antioxidant ef
fect has been estimated by the induction periods of the carbonyl and hydrox
yl group accumulation, and the oxygen sorption at 353 and 363 K. The induct
ion periods observed for triazinones was compared with those for the known
stabilizers of amine and phenol type. The triazinone-phenol mixtures were d
emonstrated to have a large synergistic effect. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science L
