Abstract
Theoretical principles are given for the computer-aided design of functiona lly graded materials (FGM) for use under graded loading. The graded propert y distribution, make itself most strongly in wave processes. On shock loadi ng, the FGM rise to new types of wave: isoentropic compression waves and so liton-type ones.
