This paper focuses on future areas of research and development (R&D) i
n the area of demand-side management (DSM) impact measurement and eval
uation. The goal is to identify viable R&D opportunities that can impr
ove capabilities to determine the energy and demand reductions achieve
d in customer facilities through DSM programs and measures. After revi
ewing key issues in data analysis, field monitoring, and the evaluatio
n of DSM measures, potential R& D opportunities are identified accordi
ng to a priority level.
