Interventional endoscopic techniques have become indispensible in almost ev
ery area of modern surgery, but surgeons must continue to advance their ski
lls to be involved in these aspects of patient care. This article discusses
approaches to the treatment of Barrett's esophagus, gastric and duodenal b
leeding, and ampullary stenosis, and reviews endoscopic therapy for biliary
tract disease, pancreatitis, and endoscopic surgical management of colon a
nd rectal disease.
