Abstract
Crystals obtained in the course of preparing the tris-Schiff base iron(II) complex from 2-acetylpyridine and benzylamine have been shown by an X-ray d iffraction structure determination to contain an iron(II) complex cation co ntaining two molecules of the target Schiff base and one molecule of 2-acet ylpyridine coordinated to the metal. The mechanistic implications of this f act are discussed.
