Ot. Muldoon et al., The legacy of the troubles on the young people's psychological and social development and their school life, YOUTH SOC, 32(1), 2000, pp. 6-28
Throughout the history of the Troubles in Northern Ireland concern has been
expressed for the generations that have grown up against a backdrop of pol
itical violence. Despite the interest of local and international researcher
s in the psychological effects of the conflict on children's and adolescent

oubles has nor been reached. This fact largely can be attributed to the com
plex nature of the issue and the resultant methodological problems that are
encountered when attempting to explore the impact of the conflict on young
people's psychological health. This article charts the progress and curren
t state of knowledge and highlights the diverse social and psychological co
nsequences of growing rtp in Northern Ireland.
